The Department of Emergency Medicine at AUBMC is playing a
groundbreaking leadership role in the development of Emergency Medicine in Lebanon and the region.
Our department offers round-the-clock attending level care to all patients. We have built processes that bring the best in evidence-based emergency care to the bedside using the most advanced equipment and resources to deliver
timely, lifesaving therapies to
over 48,000 cases annually. Our team of highly trained physicians, nurses,
residents and ancillary staff can handle all types of emergencies from acute medical/surgical cases to obstetrics and pediatric emergencies. Furthermore, we offer unique services that include
Toxicology Care covered by medical toxicologists, Sports Medicine covered by a sports medicine specialist, and Pediatric Emergency Services with oversight by American Board-certified specialist in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. With
fourty-three beds, three trauma bays, extensive monitoring capacity, available bedside ultrasonography, dedicated imaging room, advanced airway equipment and real-time electronic tracking capacity, our ED is equipped to handle the most critical cases.
With a vision of promoting excellence in Emergency Medicine not just at our institution but across Lebanon and the region,
in 2012 we established the first Emergency Medicine specialist supervised EM residency training program in Lebanon that has since gone on to become one of the first programs in Lebanon to be accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International and the Arab Board.
In addition to our clinical and educational mission, our department is committed to promoting globally and locally relevant research, with a focus on contemporary acute health
issue.
Through their research, our faculty are not only beginning to define local emergency needs and pathology but also studying interventions with practice changing potential.
The Department of Emergency Medicine at AUBMC is proud to be leading the growth of Emergency Medicine at such a pivotal phase in its young history in Lebanon.
