The Department of Emergency Medicine at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) established three non-clinical fellowships and one clinical fellowship:

Emergency Medicine Administrative Fellowship

The Emergency Medicine Administrative Fellowship is a 2-year program that aims at developing fellows for executive healthcare roles by providing experiential post-graduate training in operations, finance, strategic planning, risk management, emergency preparedness, quality improvement, and other areas of emergency medicine administration.

This non-clinical fellowship is divided into three components: clinical teaching component, completion of a master's program in Executive Masters in Business Administration that offers core curriculum content, and mentorship through participation in departmental/institutional administrative activities.

This fellowship will help build future leaders in emergency medicine who can contribute to building high quality service emergency departments across the country. By fostering mentorship between fellows and senior management, this non-clinical fellowship contributes to the profession by developing well-prepared health care professionals who are trained in various aspects of healthcare administration.

Emergency Medicine Research Fellowship

The Emergency Medicine Research Fellowship is a 2 years program designed to train physician scientists to become independent investigators and nationally recognized leaders in emergency medicine research.

Research fellows will have the opportunity to work with senior EM faculty with the aim of guiding academic-oriented emergency physicians towards becoming funded clinical research scientists. The fellow will engage in basic, clinical, and health services research pertinent to EM practice, promote collaborative and interdisciplinary research within and across the institution, develop new systems to manage clinical information, develop new methods to assess the outcomes of emergency care, and seek and develop increased funding sources for EM research.
