Magnet Journey

Our Magnet Legacy

First in the Region.

Second Outside USA.

Four Consecutive Times.

“On my first day of orientation, I learned about Magnet Accreditation. Although I didn't fully understand its significance at the time, it was clear that it was a major accomplishment, as the Nursing Department spoke about it with great pride."

Magnet Recognition is not merely an award or a badge of honor. It is a clear demonstration of a deep and sustained commitment to excellence in healthcare, centered around the well-being of nurses. For nurses, it means ongoing education and development at every stage of their careers, ultimately leading to more autonomy in patient care. For patients, it ensures top-quality care provided by nurses who are supported to reach their full potential.

It is in 1994 that the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) introduced the first Magnet Recognition, and currently there are 621 Magnet-accredited facilities worldwide, with 601 located in the United States and 16 international hospitals spread across 10 different countries. AUBMC is the first hospital in the region and the second outside the USA to earn Magnet accreditation four times since 2009.

AUBMC first achieved Magnet® designation in 2009 and was re-designated in 2014, 2019, and 2024.
