Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Embassy Honors Innovative AUBMC and Lebanese Physicians for their Distinguished and Pioneering Contributions

The Saudi Embassy in Lebanon honored prominent Lebanese doctors with the title of “Innovative Doctors” for their service to humanity on Saturday, May 13, 2017. The ceremony was held at the KSA  embassy in Beirut in the presence of Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, H.E. Mr. Ghassan Hasbani and His Excellency Charge d’ Affaires Counselor of Saudi Arabia’s Embassy in Beirut, Walid Bin Abdullah Al-Bukhari.

Twelve outstanding physicians and scientists from different Lebanese hospitals and district. In addition to Lebanese army physicians, the Presidents of the Lebanese Order of Physicians in Beirut and Tripoli and President of the Lebanese Nurses Syndicate were honored for their distinguished and pioneering contributions in healthcare. Five current AUBMC professors: Samia Khoury, Fadi Bitar, Samir Alam, Suha Kanj Sharra and Abdul-Latif Hamdan, were among the twelve honored Lebanese physicians. In addition to the title of “Innovative Doctors”, the Lebanese physicians were recognized with Shields of Excellence and Tokens of Appreciation for their creative contributions, and their social and humanitarian responsibility in the medical sector. The honored doctors were also identified for their exceptional efforts in the improvement of healthcare for the people of Lebanon and the region.

The awards were presented by His Excellency Charge d’ Affairs Walid Bin Abdullah Al-Bukhari and H.E. Ghassan Hasbani, in the presence of leading Lebanese activists and officials. The Head of Economic and Cultural Affairs at the Embassy, Mr. Marwan Al Saleh, took the initiative of holding the ceremony which will eventually lead to further collaborations between medical institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Lebanon. Such collaborations between hospitals and institutions will enhance medical health Practice in both countries and refresh the economic advancement as well. Several speeches given by their Excellencies Hasbani, Al-Bukhari, and President of the Lebanese Order of Physicians, Dr. Raymond Sayegh stressed on the importance of establishing bridges and distinguished relationships between both countries for the same reason.

This gesture of generosity by the KSA embassy comes as an appreciation and testimony towards the services provided by the Lebanese physicians in general and those at AUBMC in particular.
