Running for Psychosis Recovery Outreach Program

Page Content
On Sunday, November 11, we supported Oussama Ali Abedelnabi, a dedicated psychiatric nurse, who ran a half marathon in Beirut in 2 hours and 3 minutes, while raising awareness on schizophrenia, a severe mental illness that affects 1 person out of 100.

Oussama is 31 and from South Lebanon. He has been a nurse for the past 10 years, currently on the inpatient psychiatric unit, and as a member of the Psychosis Recovery Outreach Program Team (PROP) at AUBMC.

Oussama finds a parallel between the perseverance of the marathon runner and the long path to recovery in schizophrenia.
